| The Lake District is impossible! Over the last 4 or 5 years I have made a number of photographic trips to be met each time by its legendary wet weather: low cloud, drizzle and steamy pubs full of long faces..... but then I got lucky! I met up with a group of friends in Langdale in February with snow already on the hill tops. It was an opportunity not to be missed, so I waved my friends off as they climbed away up into the hills and spent a glorious day with a Mamiya 6 and a few rolls of Ilford BW film. Weather fronts, thick with snow blew in every twenty minutes but in between the skies cleared lighting the scene with sunshine: perfect black and white weather. It was, frankly, like shooting fish in a barrel . I still don't trust Lake District weather though. |
